Join our PropertyIQ team and play a lead role in the next evolution of our Strata Application capabilities and Platform Evolution. We are building the PropertyIQ of the future, and we are doing it with our clients by our side.

At Macquarie, technology is viewed as an important enabler for our business growth. We use a mix of modern cloud-based and home-grown technologies to deliver impactful experiences that help our clients achieve their operational and financial goals and fundamentally change how they interact within the strata ecosystem.

We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

What role will you play?

As a hands-on Lead Java Engineer, you will provide technical and delivery leadership for a PropertyIQ engineering team. You will lead medium-to-large initiatives, set a high standard for engineering quality, and be the go-to person for resolving complex technical challenges across the team.

You will own the technical direction of significant components of the PropertyIQ platform, making and guiding architectural decisions across Angular applications, Java and Spring Boot services, APIs, integrations, event-driven workflows, and supporting data layers. You will ensure solutions balance immediate business and delivery needs with the platform’s long-term goals for scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, and operational excellence.

Working closely with product, delivery, business and technology stakeholders, you will translate business goals into clear technical outcomes. You will lead technical discovery and solution design, break complex initiatives into deliverable components, manage technical dependencies and risks, and ensure important decisions are communicated and carried through to production.

You will remain close to the code while creating an environment in which the wider team can deliver effectively. This includes establishing engineering standards, reviewing critical designs and code, unblocking engineers, mentoring team members, supporting their development, and facilitating onboarding and knowledge sharing.

You will play an active role in production and platform health. You will lead the technical response to significant incidents, drive root-cause analysis and systemic remediation, and ensure the team appropriately prioritises reliability, security, vulnerability remediation, technical debt and operational readiness.

You will also help shape the team’s engineering culture by championing responsible AI-assisted software engineering. You will identify opportunities to use AI-enabled practices to improve software quality, developer productivity, delivery efficiency and continuous learning.
